Specialist Technician Candidates - eduSTAR.TSS Program Systems Engineer / Specialist Technician - eduSTAR.TSS / Education Sector Bytewize is seeking highly experienced IT professionals to fill contract and ongoing employment positions that are available within our company. Successful candidates will be employed by Bytewize to provide ongoing technical support services to the Department of Education (Department) through the Technical Support to Schools Program (eduSTAR.TSS). These are not entry-level positions, all candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ industry experience AND previous experience within the eduSTAR program OR extensive experience within the education sector is essential for consideration. The roles and responsibilities consist of managing the IT infrastructure within Departments schools. Administration of school network and server infrastructure and providing ICT support services to both the staff and students in large ICT based learning environments. Essential Technical Skills Required

  • Ability to manage and service Windows and Apple devices on an enterprise scale
  • Administration and support of Hyper-V virtualized server environments
  • Administration various Windows and Linux based servers
  • High level enterprise network administration skills required - Cisco and HP switches
  • Administration of Cisco wireless network technologies, including wireless controllers and access points
  • Excellent language and communication skills are essential for consideration of these roles
  • Providing support to enterprise volume desktop and notebook computers
  • Extensive experience in SOE and image deployment, including the ability to provide advanced troubleshooting skills where required
  • Previous industry experience in an educational setting is essential unless you have high levels of industry experience in a similar scale enterprise level corporate environment
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Department and eduSTAR.TSS initiatives will be highly regarded
  • Extensive experience with planning, deployment & management of 1:1 and BYOD devices in an enterprise scale environment will be very highly regarded
  • Ability to plan and run ICT professional development sessions and work collaboratively with the schools’ stakeholder ICT management when required
  • Technical documentation writing skills

This role is based in the North West Metro​ region, assisting targeted schools identify priority areas for improvement to enhance staff and student access to digital learning resources, and assist in the creation of a 4 year plan for schools using an online ICT assessment and planning tool. Information Management and Technology Division is seeking suitably qualified applicants from all existing contracting companies on the eduSTAR.TSS Panel to provide technical support services to assist with this project. In recognition of the elevated responsibilities of Technical Planning Officers, the Technical Support to Schools Program is offering an increased hourly rate Role Responsibilities The successful applicants’ duties include: o Working with Service Delivery Unit, Digital Learning and the eduSTAR service operations team to assist schools in the creation of strategic plans using the online assessment and planning tool. o Providing technical advice to ICT leadership across a variety of schools o Planning and running the logistics of planning workshops, and active follow up with school ICT coordinators regarding school planning to ensure implementation plans are developed to completion. o Building relationships with key stakeholders. o Assisting schools undertaking capital works with their ICT planning process. o Travel to school sites will be required. Travel hours are included in the allocated 40 hours per week. Required Capabilities Delivery of Planning Sessions o Event planning including communications, venue booking, catering and logistics around organizing Planning Sessions. o Active participation in workshops, and delivery of learning activities to a variety of audiences. o Lecturing may be required on occasion. Building works o Provision of technical advice to in relation to IT service provision to schools over the planning, procurement, design and build phases of VSBA building works. This includes: § Review of Building Plans § Coordination of IMTD services (CASES, eduSTAR.NET, VicSmart, teacher notebooks, TSS allocations) § Planning and procurement of school infrastructure § Coordinating installation, integration and handover of IT systems to schools Consultancy o The provision of advice and recommendations to the Victorian School Building Authority and school leadership, based on your expertise and experience in school technical support. o Work co-operatively with and effectively support a diverse range of people; including VSBA project managers, school technicians, ICT co-ordinators, school leaders and DET staff. o Take responsibility for understanding school requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution. o Engage with school leadership and maintain those relationships. o Demonstrated ability to listen to and communicate effectively to a diverse range of people. This would include those with different levels of technical knowledge and experience. o Excellent communications skills Technical Skills o Maintain an in-depth knowledge of DET IMTD technical systems, applications and initiatives and can provide expert advice to schools on behalf of IMTD. o Oversee consultancy with subject matter experts where required. o In depth knowledge of contemporary Windows Server technologies, service and management of Windows and Apple devices and Network Administration. o Drafting and publishing technical documentation, and understanding the tools and methods in implementing.
